  2. The Blue Ridge mountains are actually a large grouping of mountains (such as the Great Smoky Mountains, the Great Balsams, the Roans, the Brushy Mountains, and many more). They are commonly all refered as the "Blue Ridge Mountains" because the trees in that location release a chemical called "isoprene" that goes up into the atomosphere making the are look blue such as in the picture to the right.

  3. Things to Do
  4. While there are tons of different tourest attractions in the Blue Ridge area, some of the better known attractions include:
    The Biltmore Estate
    - The Biltmore Estate is Nort Carolina's largest house! Do activities and enjoy an amazing part of history while going through the tour.
    The Western North Carolina Nature Center
    - 40 acres of animals in there natural habitat. Come for an amazing hands on experiance to learn about our states history!
    Grandfather Mountain
    - Come visit the largest peak in the Blue Ridge area. There is plenty of wild life for the whole family to enjoy! This amazingly preserved area might even inspire you! An image of this amazing peak is to your right.
